How did you travel?
As a family
Tell us why you traveled to this destination.
We wanted to go on a unique beach trip that was near our home in TN. Folly Beach is about a 7-hour drive from where we live. We found the fun little town of Folly Beach and wanted to check it out.
Give us all the details! Tell us where you went and what you did on your trip.
We walked the beaches looking for shark teeth! Yes, really! We found 8 in one afternoon just walking. You’ll find so many people walking the shore with their heads down. It’s because they are all searching for shark teeth.
Checked out the Angel Oak in Charleston. It is big!
Drove to Kiawah Island and did two classes with their naturalist’s team. We traveled with our 5 yr old and wanted to incorporate learning while we were there. The two classes were fantastic! We did one in their Nature Center and one on their beach.
You have to stop at The Pineapple Hut for a Dole Whip if you are there during its open season!
There is an old lighthouse on Folly Beach, called Morris Island Lighthouse. You have to park at the end of a dead-end road and walk the path to the lighthouse. The very end of the path is going through sand and a steep hill so it can be difficult for some. The asphalt path is covered in graffiti and a lot of fun to check out.
One evening we had drinks on the deck at the Tides Folly Beach resort. It was a great view of the beach and the drinks were pretty good.
Our favorite place to eat and have drinks at was Chico Feo. It is all outside, they have bands playing all the time, and the food was delicious!
Would you recommend this trip to a friend?
Yes
What was the highlight of your trip?
Relaxing at the beach!
If you were to take this trip again, is there anything you would add or do differently?
I would have gone slightly later in Spring. It was still a bit cold in mid-March and only got to spend a couple of days at the beach. The weather was too cold on most of the days.
