Tell us why you traveled to this destination.
Our family loves skiing and is always looking for a new destination. Matterhorn is one of the most majestic mountains in the world so we thought it was a must-see!
What was your itinerary?
Day 1: Arrived in Geneva, traveled to Zermatt
Day 2: Went to Midway
Day 3: Visited Casa Mia
Day 4: Traveled to Paris
Give us all the details! Tell us where you went and what you did on your trip.

Day 1: We arrived in Geneva and need transportation to Zermatt. By car it’s over 3 hours, the train is 4 hours, and by helicopter, it’s a mere 45 minutes! Chris surprised all three of us by booking a private helicopter to take us to Zermatt. If you can do it, this is definitely the way to go. Fortunately, our pilot was someone from the search and rescue team, so I felt confident going through the mountains which was a bit scary, but exhilarating! The views of Matterhorn were amazing.
Upon arrival, an electric car was waiting for us to take us to our hotel- Mont Cervin Palace. Five stars for this hotel! The food was great, the rooms were beautiful, and the staff were probably the most friendly people we have met. In the town of Zermatt, there are no cars allowed, only small electric taxis. Everyone usually walks through this quaint little town.
Day 2: On the second day Chris went with the girls skiing while I decided to stay behind to explore. Chris and the girls met a German solo traveler who they befriended. He took them to a couple of incredible restaurants on the mountains. It’s not like in the US where dining options are more cafeteria-style. Chris and the girls sat down to long meals, tall beers, and excellent desserts!

Day 3: The next day, Chris decided to get a guide and go skiing with the girls while I decided on a spa day at the hotel. I should have done my research as I was surprised that it was a naked-only, co-ed spa! Fortunately, I was the only one there at that time! There was a poster on the wall telling you instructions on how to use the thermal baths, steam baths, cold plunges, etc. The process should take 2 to 3 hours, but I did mine pretty quickly as I was nervous, someone else might come in! Meanwhile, the guide took Chris and the girls on different paths where the snow was best. Midway through Luciana was skiing way too fast and had a bit of an accident. The ski patrol was amazing! They buckled her up and brought her down the chair lift. She saw the medic and had x-rays. The staff was wonderful with Luciana and made her feel safe and comfortable at all times. She just had a small sprain, but had to turn in her skis for the rest of the trip. We went to a couple of great restaurants for dinner.
Definitely need to do the fondue experience. We went to a place called Melted which provided all the fondue options! Another great restaurant, we went to was Casa Mia, which had a little bit of everything, but everything tasted so good! We were going to stay an extra day, but the weather was crummy so we decided to head back and spend a day in Paris. This time we opted for the train. It’s a great way to travel and see the surrounding Swiss villages. You only need to transfer once, and that train takes you directly to the Geneva airport. Although we were only there for four days, it was definitely enough time to explore Zermatt!

Would you recommend this trip to a friend?
Yes
What was the highlight of your trip?
The highlight had to be the scenery. Whether it was from the helicopter views of the Matterhorn to skiing down the mountain slopes or simply walking through town -everything felt like I was in a Hallmark movie!
If you were to take this trip again, is there anything you would add or do differently?
I don’t think we would do anything different. With ski trips, everything depends on the weather, so having options other than skiing is a good idea.
